Tarot of Oz

[Magician] [3 of Swords] The Tarot of Oz is based on the series of Oz books written by L. Frank Baum between 1900 and 1920. The most well-known is the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the story of Dorothy and her "fool's journey" of self-discovery on the yellow brick road. In this deck, artist David Sexton combines the traditional archetypes of the tarot with their counterparts in the Oz tales. Each major arcana card shows a character whose qualities reflect that card. Both the traditional name and character name are given. Each minor arcana suit shows scenes from a story revolving around one of the famous four: the Scarecrow for swords, the Cowardly Lion for wands, the Tin Woodman for cups and Dorothy for stones (pentacles). The court cards are taken from the many royal figures that appear in Baum's books. The instruction booklet describes the scene or character depicted on each card and how it relates to the card's meaning. Sexton is also the creator of the Winged Spirit Tarot.
