Old English Tarot

[Lovers] [3 of Pentacles] The theme of the Old English Tarot is medieval England. For reference, the artist Maggie Kneen turned to the Luttrell Psalter, a manuscript written and illuminated in the 14th century for Sir Geoffrey Luttrell, a wealthy landowner. Many cards in this deck show scenes of everyday life in the farms, villages and waterways of the period. Figures are dressed in traditional medieval clothing. The numbered minor arcana cards have patterned borders, a different one for each suit. The colors are soft and muted lending this deck an overall tranquil tone.
